De Rijke & Co. is a dutch company that crafts elegant mechanical watches. From his atelier outside Rotterdam Laurens De Rijke designs, manufactures and assembles his timepieces in strictly limited numbers. The meticulous production process involves the use of traditional machines and techniques, along with many hours of finishing by hand.
Several years ago Laurens commissioned a set of illustrations to help promote his core collection, The Amalfi Series. Our creative partnership has continued to evolve, and we are proud to announce our first collaboration.
The Amalfi Series - Land, Sea and Air.
The Amalfi Series was conceived as a driver’s watch. Its two piece stainless steel case can be rotated through 90 degrees to ensure the dial always faces the wearer as they operate the controls.
Since the launch of the Amalfi Series 1 Laurens De Rijke has referenced the effortless elegance of 1950s Italian GT and sports cars as an inspiration. For this collaboration we have widened the scope to include two vehicles that are synonymous with the scenic Italian coast. An evocative wooden hulled speedboat and the legendary Macchi Castoldi M.C 72 Seaplane.
Crafted by hand.
The watches feature champlevé enamel dials and engraved case backs. The sold silver dials are etched. Grand feu enamel is then applied by hand and fired at high temperature, a highly skilled process that is undertaken by an experienced craftsman in the UK.
The lengthy process of hand finishing and assembly is then carried out at the De Rijke atelier.
