The tortuous route of the Col de Turini mountain pass has a long association with the Monte-Carlo Rally. Traditionally held on a cold January evening, this testing stage through the French Alps is a firm favourite with spectators.
Lancia dominated the event in the late 1970s taking four victories, including three consecutive wins for Sandro Munari in the distinctive Alitalia liveried Stratos.
